A big thank you to all of the small businesses who attended the first Small Business Workshop organized by the Downtown Lynchburg Association on Monday, June 24! This workshop kicked-off a series of three that will help empower you to survive (and thrive) during construction. Two more workshops will be offered this fall, so look for more details here and on the Open for Business page.

This past Monday, Jay Schlinsog offered tips and best practices for Lynchburg’s small businesses as they plan for Main Street Renewal. From providing ideas on robust marketing campaigns and unique construction-themed promotions to suggesting actionable ways for you to engage with the project, Jay’s talk gave a great idea of what to expect and how to proactively plan for this major construction project.

If you were unable to attend, we’ve provided a full-length recording of the talk for viewing at any time:

As Jay mentioned in his talk, we have prepared a Construction Handbook to help you plan for the project. This handbook provides information about Main Street Renewal and offers tips on how to help your business plan for and thrive during construction. We realize that construction will be impactful to each and every business in Lynchburg, and we hope that this handbook will serve as a first step in helping you develop a proactive business plan for the duration of the project.

You can find this handbook on our Open for Business page and we will provide hard copies of it during public meetings and one-on-one conversations. Additional copies can be picked up at DLA—just call ahead to let them know that you would like one!
