Main Street Manhole Inspections (4/29 - 5/9)

From April 29 until May 9, Appalachian Power will be performing manhole inspections on Main Street between Seventh and Twelfth Streets.  These inspections are needed to verify the condition of the existing Appalachian Power manholes and to identify improvements that may be necessary during the Main Street Renewal Project.

New River Electric, the contractor for Appalachian Power will work Monday – Thursday between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM.  Some on-street parking and lane closures will be necessary in order for crews to access each manhole, but Main Street will remain open to through traffic during the inspections.

In July 2018, the City of Lynchburg and Appalachian Power announced the joint Main Street Renewal Project.  Appalachian Power’s work on Tenth Street is a precursor to the Main Street Renewal Project, which will begin in Fall 2019.  More details about the Main Street Renewal Project, including project timelines and scope of work, will be announced at a joint informational meeting on Tuesday, April 30.  The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn (601 Main Street, Lynchburg, VA 24504) at 7 PM.
